Competition success „20 seconds for art“: Video „The Ungraspable and (the) Comprehension“
Five winning videos have been selected from 91 entries by a jury of artists at KÖR (Art in public space Vienna).
Our video will be aired, with the others, at about 4800 public displays in Austria, July and August 2026! Screens are situated in subways, trams and buses as well as at bus and tram stops, in the cities of Vienna, Linz, Wels, Steyr, Graz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Bregenz, Klagenfurt and Eisenstadt.

The Ungraspable and (the) Comprehension
are affecting,
in touching of what we grasp.
Spanning across incomprehensible billions of years,
of physical and mental reach,
of myriads of species and beings.
Through grasping our hands came to be,
by comprehending,
we made robotic hands.

Begreifen über ungreifbar viele Jahrmillionen
von physischer und mentaler Reichweite,
von ungreifbar vielen Spezies und Wesen.
Durch Begreifen sind unsere Hände geworden und damit haben wir Roboterhände gemacht.

The video emphasizes “… the changing relationship between human and robotic bodies as a topic – without evaluating them morally. The film, which focuses on human tactile sensitivity, directs our sensory awareness towards the question of the significance of the physical body, of bodily experience and of non-verbal forms of human interaction.” (translated by O. Das Video macht „… die sich wandelnde Beziehung zwischen menschlichem und robotischem Körper zum Thema – ganz ohne diese moralisch zu bewerten. Der auf die taktile Sensibilität des Menschen fokussierende Film lenkt die sensorisch aktivierte Aufmerksamkeit auf die Frage nach der Bedeutung des physischen Körpers, nach körperlicher Erfahrung und nichtsprachliche Formen menschlicher Interaktion.“
