In the lecture Oliver delivers his argument on how autonomy and embodiment are defining the relations between entities in the globally emerging AI-culture.
The extended text of Oliver’s lecture „Deconstructing claims of AI Autonomy and Embodiment; by means of the dance performance youAI and the development of the DANCR–tool AI“ will be published in the conference proceedings.
Lecture abstract
Among today’s many different ways of controlling robots, AI is discussed as the most promising option. Many different popular definitions of social robotics and AI featured in the media sphere not only fail to highlight the aspect of control of these devices; they actually further distract from control by claiming their autonomy. This gets fostered by industry claiming that there would be kind of a symmetry between humans and AIs in terms of the capabilities. On the basis of that claimed sameness, the illusion got constructed that humans are inferior to AIs. That’s material for research and practice in theory, technology, and drama at once!
