Jelinek<br>Soundscapes &amp; Music Composition \u2013 Jorge S\u00e1nchez-Chiong<br>Multimedia \u2013 Peter Koger <br>(<em>a Nomad Theater Production<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concept <strong>Ningyo Joruri \u4eba\u5f62\u6d44 \u7460 &#8211; \u7483 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dance performance discusses two cultures that, without any mutual influence, at the same time develop an obsession with artful representations of humans by mechanical means. &#8220;Doppelganger&#8221; introduces and inverts the relation of puppet and puppeteer from Ningy\u014d J\u014druri (Japanese puppet-play drama). A humanoid robot &#8216;(puppeteer), model Pepper by Softbank Japan, will control one human dancer, Eva-Maria Kraft (pupet).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspired by Ningy\u014d J\u014druri (also known as Bunraku theatre), the performance \u201cNingy\u014d J\u014druri\u201d dramatizes the text &#8220;Humans Are Machines of the Angels&#8221; (1785) by author Jean Paul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Intelligent technology is about to change cultural spaces established since generations. Most prominently among the various new technologies are humanoid robots. Supposed to be functional in assistance and care, they enter private and intimate spaces of humans. Which cultural changes of those spaces should we pursue? What kind and what quality of relationship can we have with them?<em><br><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>First concept to the &#8220;Doppelgaenger&#8221; cycle; <br>a dance performance in posthuman flux<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oliver Sch\u00fcrer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The play focuses on the production\nand the negotiation of cultural space between human and humanoid under mutually\nentangled influence. In being urged to do so, they live the dissolution between\nsubject and object \u2013 the posthuman condition of the human reflected and\nresonated by the doppelganger. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The format of performance will be\nchallenged as a research method, that would elude the grasp of other formats.\nIt is introduced to preserve crucial aspects of cultural spaces such as\npresence, the continuous, the ephemeral, the temporal, the spontaneous and the\natmospheric, to probe the abyss of mutual resonance and reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the performance is working with modes of expression inspired\nby Bunraku puppet theatre, it dramatizes the text &#8220;Humans Are Machines of\nthe Angels&#8221; (1785) by Jean Paul. His dark satire reflects on the topic of android\nautomata, of the time with Paul\u2019s literary topic of the Doppelgaenger. With the\nperformance, the relatedness of puppet and the puppeteers allows to discuss\ndense, intimate relations of guidance and perception, like seeing with one\u2019s\nhands, abstracting by observing or the harmony of dynamic equilibrium in caring\nand being cared for. Cultural Space unfolds in permanently keeping up dynamic\nequilibria, with both, treating the puppet as mere artefact as well as animated\nmatter according to situational context, and, the mutual exchange of playing\/perceiving\nand being played\/perceived to discuss potentials of human-humanoid relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But while\ndiscussing the actor status between puppet or puppeteer in the performance,\nboth find themselves increasingly indistinguishable from the posthuman flux among\nthe mutual Doppelgaengers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>H.A.U.S. at the &#8220;Kre:\u03c0 performance art festival&#8221; at Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, 30.8.-2.9.2018, Dance-performance and Discourse.
